Burmagomphus divaricatus

Scientific name: Burmagomphus divaricatus Lieftinck, 1964
Family: Gomphidae
Thai name: แมลงปอเสือพม่าท้องขีดเหลือง

The small gomphid I often found in North Thailand is Burmagomphus divaricatus. Although it's easily spotted near the stream, it's very hard to take a photo especially a compact camera like mine. Recently, it's fortunately to see and took a photo of this species.

Male is black with greenish yellow or yellow stripes. The markings on dorsum of synthorax and on S9 are different from other Burmagomphus species. Female is similar to the male.

You can see this species in all parts of Thailand between May-October.
