Agriocnemis nana

Scientific name: Agriocnemis nana Laidlaw, 1914
Family: Coenagrionidae
Thai name: แมลงปอเข็มเล็กนานา, แมลงปอเข็มเล็กท้องฟ้า

Agriocnemis nana is considered to be one of the smallest odonates. You must gaze at grasses to see this tiny and beautiful damselfly.

Male has green synthorax with black stripes. Wings are hyaline. Stigma is bright blue. Middorsal stripes of S1-7 are black but ventral parts are blue. S8 is blue with unique black marking. S9 is black with blue basal ring. S10 is entirely black. Caudal appendages are blue. Female is similar to that of male. S1-7 are blue with black middosal stripes. S8-9 are black with blue basal rings. S10 is black. Caudal appendages are blue.

You can see this damselfly in all parts of Thailand especially in South where it occurs all the year. But another parts of Thailand, it's found in June-January.
