Rhinagrion mima

Scientific name: Rhinagrion mima (Karsch, 1891)
Family: Megapodagrionidae
Thai name: แมลงปอเข็มภูเขาหางส้ม

Rhinagrion mima is a lovely damselfly when I first see it in Kanchanaburi province. It followed me as I was walking along the nature trail. It's in everywhere but many people don't see it (I wonder why). There seems to be at least two species of Rhinagrion in Thailand. Revision of this genus is needed to confirm this.

mature male

Young male is dark red body with yellow stripes and the dark red will turn to black as it ages and turns blue in old one. Abdomen is red. Female is similar to the male.

You can see this species in all the year.
