Pseudagrion rubriceps

Scientific name: Pseudagrion rubriceps Selys, 1876
Family: Coenagrionidae
Thai name: แมลงปอเข็มบ่อหน้าส้ม



One of the common damselflies found in pond, canal, ditch, stream and waterfall. Pseudagrion rubriceps is very panic species. It's recognised by its face and synthorax colors. The beauty is very closer than you've ever think!

Young male is orange synthorax and the marking on S8-10 is pale blue. Its face has orange patch. As it ages, The synthorax color changes from orange to blue with green on dorsum of the synthorax. Young Female is similar to the male. Ocular spots are orange. Abdomen has two black triangle marking on S9.

You can find this species all the year in South and Southwest but in April-December in elsewhere.
