One of common and beautiful libellulid species found around waterfall. Orthetrum pruinosum is easily recognised by its coloration. We often see the male but it's hard to see the female. The female shows up only for mating or laying eggs.
matured male
Young male is dark reddish synthorax and bright abdomen and the thorax with covered with blue pruinosed as it matures. Female is dark yellow. There is a black middorsal ridges. Two black minute spots are at base of abdomen segments. Underside of abdomen, there is also distinct black markings.
