Argiocnemis rubescens rubeola

Scientific name: Argiocnemis rubescens rubeola Selys, 1877
Family: Coenagrionidae
Thai name: แมลงปอเข็มเล็กหางตุ้ม

I spot this damselfly in the West and North Thailand just few times althoght the book said it's a widspread and common species. In the early of this month, I saw it all ages and colors in an artificial pond in Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai.

male

Male: young one is dull yellow and red and darker when it gets older. And it changes to blue in a mature one.

female

Female is like the male. Yellow and red in young one. When it matures, the pterothorax turns to blue. In old one, there is a white pruinescence.
