Rhinocypha fenestrella

Scientific name: Rhinocypha fenestrella (Rambur, 1842)
Family: Chlorocyphidae
Thai name: แมลงปอเข็มน้ำตกสั้นผู้ดำ, แมลงปอเข็มก้นสั้นปีกเหลือบม่วง, แมลงปอเข็มประกายธารดำ

When you go to a waterfall, Rhinocypha fenestrella will be spotted on the rock or twig above the stream. Many people call it "black damselfly" but if it's in the right angle, you will see the hidden beauty; the violet iridescent spot on its wings.

male
Young and adult male is black with yellow markings. Wings are mostly darken, as it ages, with violet iridescent spots.

female
Female is black with yellow stripes. Its abdomen is mostly darken with some small yellow markings on laterside of the first three abdominal segments.

This species is found from China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysia.
